Press Release from European Jews for Just Peace (EJJP)

15 June 2003

Jewish delegation will meet EU ministers to urge action for Palestinian rights, by enforcing EU trade rules

We wish to place on record our outrage at the actions of the Israeli government which are destroying any possibility of a renewal of dialogue - as envisaged in the Road Map - by the policy of targetted assassinations and the accompanying murder of Palestinian civilians, setting in train an escalation of destructive action and reaction. We are particularly appalled by the declaration of defence Minister Mofas calling for the extermination of opposition groups, from grass-roots supporters to leaders. These actions and intemperate calls play into the hands of extremists on both sides. They are leading to an all-out war and will bring despair and destuction to both peoples.

We call on the international community and particularly on the Quartet to intervene immediately by supporting the call for an international peace keeping force made by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.
